Dear Yuletide Writer,
First of all, thank you so much for writing for me! I’m very excited to be doing Yuletide again this year. I really love all of these canons and characters I’m requesting, so I’m sure I’ll like anything you write for any of them!
My previous exchange letters can be found here, my AO3 account is here, and my tumblr is here.
General Likes/Dislikes
Likes: Characters who know each other better than anyone else, whether they are friends, lovers, colleagues, enemies, or any combination of the above. Trust and loyalty. Competence kink. Casually intimate body language. People who have no sense of personal space with each other. Outsider POVs. Interweaving plots. Slice of life. Weird domesticity. Roadtrips. Mission fic. Future fic. Canon divergence AUs. Supernatural/fantasy/______punk/in space! AUs. Interesting worldbuilding details. Undercover as a couple. Sharing a bed. Culture clashes. People who are bad at communicating finally managing it. Drabbles and drabble sequences.
DNWs: Non-canon permanent major character death. Explicit, onscreen non-con. Underage sex under 15 or so. Parent-child incest. Unrequested crossovers. ‘Modern mundane’/high school/coffee shop-type AUs. Anything A/B/O, dom/sub world AU, soulmates, or soulbonds (canonical supernatural bonds and connections are fine).
Requests
Any prompts listed are just ideas and suggestions, and if you have your own super great idea for any of these fandoms and characters you should totally write it!
Lackadaisy - Ivy Pepper, Viktor Vasko
Ivy and Viktor have my favorite relationship in this comic. Big, strong, curmudgeonly characters who have a not-so-secret soft spot for small, sweet, perky characters are a weakness of mine. I love that he can be murderously protective of her, but she also has a clear power over him, to the point where others will bring Ivy along as a shield if they think Viktor might be unhappy with them. I love how Ivy reacts to Viktor being in danger by being aggressively cheerful and unwilling to let him mope alone, while Viktor reacts to Ivy being in danger by being an asshole and trying to drive her away – and neither of them quite understands what the other is doing and they just wind up arguing. I do ship it and would enjoy some tension in that direction – doesn’t have to be anything explicitly stated – but I also genuinely enjoy their platonic relationship and would enjoy more of that as well.
I’m really interested in where their recent (well, in comic time, anyway) falling out has left them, with Viktor obviously terrified of the danger Ivy is in now that she’s starting to get deeper into the Lackadaisy’s more unpleasant business and lashing out, and Ivy frustrated with him getting way too involved in her personal life while also trying to push her away, plus her dealing with all this new information she has about Viktor’s past now. I would love anything exploring where they might go from there. Or something looking at where they might be further down the line – does Ivy get in even deeper, maybe under Viktor’s reluctant tutelage, or do they both manage to get out and do their own thing?
Luca - Alberto Scorfano, Massimo Marcovaldo
This movie is completely charming, and I love all the positive relationships that develop between the characters. My favorite thing wound up being the father-son relationship between Massimo and Alberto that built up in the background of everything else going on. Alberto is just so pleased to be trusted and given a job he can do and to be praised for doing it well, and Massimo is just so quietly kind and accepting and caring.
I would love to see the actual conversation where Massimo invites him to stay or anything expanding on the adorable glimpses we get in the credits of how things go after the end of the movie. Or something from a few years down the line when Alberto is more settled in as a part of the family. Feel free to also bring in Luca, Giulia, the townspeople, or the other seamonsters and show them all becoming one big community. Alberto/Luca or Alberto/Luca/Giulia are welcome as background ships, as is keeping everything totally platonic.
Psychonauts - Milla Vodello, Sasha Nein
I love everything about these two. They’re psychic secret agent partners! They go on ridiculous missions together and fight crime - psychic crime! One of these missions involved being undercover in elaborate costumes at a fancy party! They have had at least one clichéd instance of falling down and landing on top of each other in a ~romantic~ pose! They reach for each other as their plane is going down! I eat this stuff up with a spoon.
While Psychonauts 2 was tragically not The Sasha and Milla Kissing Game, I really enjoyed that it gave us more of them in their element at the Motherlobe and also out on a real mission. I would love to see even more of them working together, in the field, at camp, or at the office. Or at, like, a mandatory Motherlobe holiday party. All the other characters are great too, so bringing in campers, interns, and coworkers would be very welcome – the fact that there is office gossip about their relationship is a delight to me. Exploring just how strong their psychic bond is (they’re always talking!) and how they came to be so close would also be great.
Wolfwalkers - Mebh MacTíre, Robyn Goodfellowe
This is a beautiful movie, and the relationship between the two leads was wonderful. How happy they are together once they actual meet and start talking, the freedom and affection and acceptance they get from each other after being so alone and separated/alienated from the only other person they have in the world. And I love that the happy ending was Everyone Is Wolves instead of there being some tragic separation.
Shippiness or platonic friendship are both equally good by me for these two! I’d just love to see them getting to know each other even more, sharing their pasts and cultures with each other as they find and settle in to wherever their new home winds up being and Robyn learns even more about being a wolfwalker. I also loved the parents in this movie and how much they truly love their daughters, so I would be happy to see something about them (and the wolves and Merlyn!) all settling in to becoming a pack.
Well, that about sums it up, I think. Again, thank you so much for writing for me! If you like prompts, I hope what I gave you is helpful. If you prefer to work without them, I look forward to reading whatever you come up with. I’m sure whatever you write will be awesome!
